Hearing Tests

In order to understand your hearing the first and most important step is for us to examine your ears and auditory canal, here we are looking for wax and the condition of your ear. If wax is present we would then advise to have the wax removed before continuing with your hearing assessment.

After examining your ear we would then take a case history of relevant information regarding your hearing health. We would then begin your hearing tests where Pure Tone audiometry is carried out. This will establish how well you are hearing sounds, across different frequencies and intensities. The results are recorded on an audiogram and will determine if any treatment is required.

We would then look at the audiogram together where it would be explained to you. We would discuss the nature of your hearing loss and how your hearing capabilities could be improved, potentially with hearing aids.

This initial examination takes approximately one hour. We are able to asses you in our clinic, or in the comfort of your own home if you are unable to travel.
